The Carolina Hurricanes are expected to receive brutal news!
The Carolina Hurricanes were dealt a major blow in game 3 against Boston as forward Andrei Svechnikov left the game with a gruesome looking ankle injury. The young forward was tangled up in front of the net with B's d-man, Zdeno Chara and had the tip of his skate get stuck in the ice, forcing his ankle to turn in the wrong direction. The MRI results should be released Monday, and early word is, it's not going to be good.

Rod Brind'Amour, on whether Andrei Svechnikov might return in this series or the playoffs: "I would highly doubt it."
Brind'Amour hadn't received any news from the MRI though.
Svechnikov is one of the brightest young stars in the league. At only 20 years old, the Russian winger has 12 points in 15 career playoff games.Brind'Amour on Svechnikov injury: "The ice conditions at that time of the game had a lot to do with it. It's really slushy & your skates dig in a little more at that point & it's just unfortunate. Toes digging in & two guys battling in front, that's part of the game."
