An Alex Pietrangelo sign-and-trade coming?
The St Louis Blues have an offer of 8 years at $8 million dollars per season, on the table for their captain, Alex Pietrangelo, but the consensus is, he's going to market. With that being said, teams are lining up to present their offers and it turns out one team might be getting a chance to present theirs first before anyone else.
There continues to be a ton of chatter suggestion the St Louis Blues are listening to trade offers for the rights to Alex Pietrangelo, which essentially means one team will give up an asset just for a chance to speak to Pietrangelo and present the offensive defenseman with a contract for 8 years. This is a huge advantage for contract negotiations and gives a team a chance to lower his AAV over the 8 seasons instead of 7.
A draft pick and an NHL ready player seems to be the going rate as the Blues contemplate offers from teams.
With only a couple weeks until free-agency, it won't be long before we know exactly what is going on with Alex Pietrangelo. From all accounts it sounds like he'll be wearing a new jersey next season.
