Told that the deal is worth north of $4 M per year https://t.co/0o17lMtm2f
Laviolette deal as per source worth just under $15 M in total so salary in the high 4’s. Pretty good deal in the new Covid-affected NHL economy

The Caps wanted a bench boss with some experience as the team wants a voice to come in and find ways to motivate the aging core. A short-term deal makes a ton of sense as their window to win the Cup only has a few years left. Word is Mike Babcock was not happy with the news.
Laviolette has made stops in Nashville, Philly, Carolina, and New York Islanders. He led 3 of these teams to the Cup final, winning once with Carolina in 2006.
