Calgary Flames listed as a top potential destination for Alex Pietrangelo

The Calgary Flames are in a great spot to land a big fish on the free agent market this October. The Flames have been linked to each top free agent for their position. Calgary has three UFA defencemen that they can walk away from and use those cap savings to land one of Jacob Markstrom, Taylor Hall or Alex Pietrangelo. TSN's Pierre LeBrun lists the Flames, Leafs and Golden Knights as his top three teams to sign Pietrangelo. 

Pietrangelo is 30 and a right hand shot defender that has won nearly every team championship possible, he has won the Stanley Cup, World Cup, Olympic gold and World Junior gold. A top four of Mark Giordano, Noah Hanifin, Rasmus Andersson and Pietrangelo would be a formidable force in the Western Conference. Calgary GM Brad Treliving has never been shy to make a big move, watch for something big to come out of southern Alberta this October. The Flames are deep in the rumor mill and where there is smoke, there is usually fire.
