Done Deal: Canadiens and Hurricanes pull off interesting trade!
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired defenseman, Joel Edmundson from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a 5th-round pick at the draft this October.
Edmundson is a 27-year-old unrestricted free agent and Habs GM, Marc Bergevin wanted to show the d-man the team is high on him joining the Canadiens. So much so, they gave up a draft pick just to talk to him earlier then everyone else.
Edmundson is a stay at home D, who can play either side and surprise you with chipping in offensively. He registered a career high 20 points in 68 games last season for Carolina, after heading to the Hurricanes in a trade from the Stanley Cup Champion, St Louis Blues.
His 53 playoff games are appealing to Bergevin as he tries to sprinkle some more veterans into his lineup. Now let's just see if the Canadiens can get Edmundson signed, or else this trade was a waste.
