Henrik Lundqvist has been bought out by the Rangers
What we have been reporting for weeks has now come to fruition. The New York Rangers have bought out long-time goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
The official statement from the team will come on Wednesday where the team will announce it's buying themselves out of the final year of his $8 million dollar contract. The Rangers now have a ton of 'dead money' on their cap, but when you're getting lucky winning lotteries, you can have some money to burn.
With #NYR expected to buyout 👑 Henrik Lundqvist tomorrow, as reported by @DarrenDreger, Rangers will now have nearly $13 million in dead cap space next season.

Shattenkirk buyout $6.08 million
Lundqvist buyout $5.5 million
Girardi buyout $1.11 million
Spooner buyout $300k
The Rangers have two promising young netminders and a young nucleus that may do some serious damage in the eastern conference next season.
Lundqvist finishes his Rangers career playing 880 regular season games and another 130 in the playoffs.
The Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins are all expected to be very interested in bringing Lundqvist in on a cheap, one-year contract.
