Leafs GM has been honest to Freddie Andersen about trade talks
The Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to make major moves to their roster, but only if the price is right. And it turns out their GM is as open and honest as ever when it comes to who's been talked about.
Leafs GM, Kyle Dubas has held multiple conversations with goaltender Freddie Andersen, and has let the Danish netminder know, teams are calling about him, the team is listening, but he's only going to pull the trigger on a deal if it makes the team better.
That last part, Andersen doesn't give a sh*t about. If he's getting dealt, he doesn't care why.
The Leafs have discussed Andersen with a number of teams including the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, and Pittsburgh Penguins to name a few. It's unlikely at this point the team makes a goaltender change as Andersen's contract for next season is only $5 million for next season.
The big thing here is though, Andersen's bonuses have all been paid, and he's actually only owed $1 million cash, which makes him a very attractive target. The Leafs continue to assess the situation and if Andersen is dealt, Dubas will make sure he's the first to know.
