Pittsburgh making trade offers with two forwards included
The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently one of the busiest teams off the ice, as the team tries to find a way to re-tool on the fly. Gm, Jim Rutherford has been working his phone, completing deals, declining deals, and offering deals. Besides his goalies, which everyone and their mother know he's offering, the team is also offering up a pair of forwards.
The Penguins are trying to accomplish a couple things with these upcoming trades. Get better and more financially stable. The team has been offering up two of their forwards to gauge the return, they include:
1. Jared McCann - 24-year-old LW/C, who collected 35 points in 66 games. The 2014 1st-round-pick was paid $1.25 million last season and is looking for a pay raise as he heads to restricted free-agency. His next deal could start just under $4 million, something the Pens won't have interest in.
2. Nick Bjugstad - the 28-year-old RW/C, is often injured but when he plays, he's a solid #3 center and sometimes can sneak into your top-6. He has one year left at $4.1 million and the Pens don't have any interest in signing Bjugstad to an extension. Since arriving from Florida, Bjugstad has managed only 16 points in 45 games.
GM, Jim Rutherford has told the world he's making lots of trades this off season. Expect these two to be on their way out. What comes back, at this point, is anyone's guess.
