Report: Maple Leafs interested in Penguins Matt Murray
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been busy taking phone calls on just about anyone on their roster regarding their availability via trade. Turns out they have been making some calls too, and there's one name in particular they keep getting linked to.....Pens goalie, Matt Murray.
The Leafs and Pens just made a big deal, and there's a chance another one could be in the works. TSN's Pierre LeBrun reports the Leafs are indeed interested in Murray, and as we have mentioned before, the connection between GM, Kyle Dubas and Murray goes back to junior, when both were with the Sault St Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League. Dubas is as loyal as they come and loves familiarity.
Murray is available as Pens GM, Jim Rutherford has made that loud and clear.
Keep an eye on the Maple Leafs. If they can deal Frederik Andersen to the west coast, expect a deal soon after, announcing Matt Murray is a Maple Leaf.
Leafs Nation, are you ok with a 26-year-old Stanley Cup champion as the future between the pipes?
