Rumor: Brock Boeser and Aaron Ekblad Named In Blockbuster Trade
Aaron Ekblad was the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He has turned into an integral member of the Florida Panthers, but there have been many inquires for his services. The Toronto Maple Leafs made a trade offer, but the Panthers promptly declined. However, we have come to find out that Ekblad isn't untouchable, but he will only be moved for the right price.
Ekblad is an absolute stud who doesn't get the recognition he deserves. He tallied 5 goals and 36 assists this season, for a total of 41 points. He will be entering his fourth year of an eight year deal worth $7.5 million annually.
According to Harman Dayal of The Athletic, The Vancouver Canucks are the current frontrunners to land Ekblad, but he will come at a steep price. With Evgeni Dadonov and Mike Hoffman departing the team, the Panthers will likely seek a skilled forward in exchange. It is reported that Brock Boeser is likely to be involved in the trade deal if the Canucks wish to acquire Ekblad from the Panthers.
