Rumor: Chicago and Montreal talking trade
The Chicago Blackhawks surprised the hockey world with their performance at this year's Bubble and it sounds like they will be making some moves this off season to improve their club. With goaltender Corey Crawford expected back on the cheap, Chicago is looking to mix up their forward group a touch. Insert, Max Domi from the Montreal Canadiens.
The Blackhawks are willing to part with winger, Brandon Saad in any deal for Domi. Saad, 27, scored 21 goals in 58 games last season and it's his 81 career playoff games that is appealing on the market. The Canadiens and Max Domi appear to be over, and it's being rumored Chicago has some serious interest.
Saad carries a $6 million dollar cap hit on his last year of his deal next season, meanwhile, Domi is a restricted free-agent looking for about the same money.
Look for these two teams to continue to chat over the next few weeks as we head into the off season in October. That still sounds weird to say...
McGuire can see a potential fit with Edmonton for Max Domi, they have an situation coming up with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins whose contract is coming up. Like Domi, RNH has been playing on the wing a lot. McGuire also mentions Chicago as a potential trading partner with Montreal.
