Rumor: Edmonton and Arizona talking Kuemper trade

It was reported earlier this week by TSN's Pierre LeBrun that the Edmonton Oilers were in trade talks with the Pittsburgh Penguins involving goaltender Matt Murray. Trade talks reportedly fell apart when the Penguins insisted on a 1st round pick in next months draft. It now appears that Oilers GM Ken Holland has shifted his focus to the desert of Arizona and Darcy Kuemper is their new target.

The Arizona Coyotes are in a tough position with being penalized by the NHL for scouting combine violations, they are without a pick in the first 3 rounds this year and don't have their 1st & 3rd in 2021. The Oilers have made it clear they are not willing to part with their 1st this year, the Oilers are also without their 2nd, 3rd and 4th from this year. Any deal between Arizona and Edmonton would have to involve cheap/young NHL ready players coming over from the Oilers. The Oilers would most likely offer a package of former 2016 4th overall pick Jesse Puljujarvi, 25 year-old pending RFA Andreas Athanasiou and/or defender William Lagesson. The Oilers have been in the rumor mill seemingly on every goalie that is available, Holland has made upgrading his goalies a priority. Edmonton is tight against the cap and any goalie acquired would most likely have to come via trade not free agency.

Would this be an adequate offer for the Coyotes? Can the veteran GM Ken Holland take advantage of the Coyotes rookie interim GM Steve Sullivan? If Arizona moves Kuemper, it will definitely not be one for one.
