Rumor: Vancouver and Minnesota discussing a blockbuster deal
The Minnesota Wild and the Vancouver Canucks are two teams trying to make some serious changes in the western conference. One team in the Wild because of all the disappointment, and the other in the Canucks, a young team looking to build off of last season. It appears they are a match made in heaven, even though they both battle it out in the west, one team has exactly what the other needs.
According to a rival executive, the Wild have been offering teams Matthew Dumba for an impact forward and Minnesota has held conversations with the Canucks in the past 10 days. Wild GM, Bill Guerin has targeted Brock Boeser in a deal with Vancouver, but at this time, the Canucks aren't ready or willing to include Boeser in any trade, regardless of what's coming back.
The Wild are trying to find ways to acquire more players from the Minnesota area, and Boeser fits the bill. The Canucks may be losing Chris Tanev to free-agency, so they will need to replace some minutes on their right-side of the D, but at the cost of Boeser may be too rich for Jim Benning's blood.
Another trade scenario we could see with these two teams is the Wild acquiring Thatcher Demko from the Canucks if Vancouver decides to re-sign Jacob Markstrom. Minnesota is looking for impact forwards and a new starting goaltender so any deal with the Canucks has the chance to become a blockbuster.
