Rumor: Vegas Golden Knights To Make Alex Pietrangelo Contract Offer
Alex Pietrangelo is one of the hottest commodities on the open market. The St. Louis Blues have allowed him to test the waters, but they're reportedly still interested in signing him. Although there may be mutual interest between Pietrangelo and the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Vegas Golden Knights are in pursuit of his services.
According to Elliotte Friedman on 31 Thoughts: The Podcast, the Vegas Golden Knights are showing significant interest in Pietrangelo. It seems that there may be a salary cap conflict, but this interest indicates that the Golden Knights are ready to part with Marc-Andre Fleury and make other cuts if necessary.
Pietrangelo captained the St. Louis Blues as they won the Stanley Cup in 2019. Although Pietrangelo just turned 30 years old, he has consistently scored 50+ points while playing a sound defensive game. His cap hit of $6.5 million is certainly going to increase. Despite the salary cap freeze, Pietrangelo is likely to command roughly $8-9 million on a long term deal.
