St Louis trades goalie Jake Allen to Montreal
The St Louis Blues have traded goaltender Jake Allen to the Montreal Canadiens, along with a 7th round pick in 2022 for a 3rd and 7th round pick in 2020.
Allen has one year left on his current deal at $4.35. The move opens up cap space for the Blues which they will indeed use on captain, Alex Pietrangelo.
For the Habs, it gives them one of the best goalie duo's in the league and gives Carey Price's workload some wiggle room. Allen is a proven starter in this league and will help Montreal win games without Price in the crease. With a compressed schedule coming for next season, it makes a ton of sense for the Habs to add Allen to the fold!
