Tampa Bay getting worried about expensive offer sheets
The Tampa Bay Lightning have not wasted any time, as it's business as usual for their management team, even though they have won the Stanley Cup. The team has some major decisions to be made this off season which will have lasting impact on the club's future.
The team has a number of restricted free-agents to sign, including Selke nominee Anthony Cirelli, rugged d-man Erik Cernak, and stand-out rear-guard Mikhail Sergachev.
With Victor Hedman and Ryan McDonagh on their left-side for the foreseeable future, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman wonders if teams will be reaching out to Sergachev to offer him Top-2 minutes on their team's left side of defense.
A bigger role and a ton of cash could be enough for Sergachev to consider the move out of Tampa and on to a team such as.....perhaps the Colorado Avalanche?
Regardless, multiple insiders have come to a consensus, offer sheets could very easily be on the way for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
No team feels the brunt of the NHL's truncated off-season more than the Lightning. A day after winning the Cup, their front office was already hard at it. They've got a salary cap nightmare to fix ASAP. The threat of offer sheets is real. My piece:https://t.co/ZEztOy6P1T
