Vancouver and Arizona discussing major trade
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Vancouver Canucks and Arizona Coyotes have discussed in some capacity, a trade involving Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
While Friedman was quick to point out, this deal would be a nightmare to construct given the salary cap issues of Vancouver and Arizona's desire to complete a deal associated with draft picks and prospects.
It's believed the Canucks would be offer forward Jake Virtanen, defenseman Jack Rathbone, and draft picks starting next season as the Canucks don't have a 1st or 2nd rounder next year.
The Coyotes are only interested in draft picks or NHL ready bodies under the age of 26, making it as hard as ever to complete a trade. The team needs to rebuild it's presence in the draft after being slammed with combine scandal consequences.
Regardless, the Coyotes have a new GM and they will be busy making moves this off season.
