'15 Minutes for Fighting' coming soon!?!
As the world tries to maneuver it's way through a historic pandemic, the Sports world, and the hockey in particular, faces an uphill battle to continue at a roots level. In Canada, the minor hockey protocols in place make it difficult for some and frustrating for others. Junior hockey is in the same boat. The QMJHL is one league that's taken actions to another level and have announced major rule changes.
#QMJHL has passed a motion to reduce fighting. All players involved in a fight will be handed 10 minute misconduct penalty which will be added to 5 minute major penalty, except if a player involved is considered an instigator or an aggressor.

While the Q is making players basically lose a period of ice, the OHL is dealing with this...
The Ontario Hockey League may have to ban fighting and even body-checking as a condition of resuming games, provincial sport minister Lisa MacLeod told me in an interview.

(The OHL has said it hopes to open training camps in mid-Nov and begin its regular season Dec. 1.)
MacLeod said the OHL has said that U.S.-based OHL teams will either relocate to Ontario for the season to avoid cross-border travel or they will remain in the U.S. and only play other American-based teams.
