Dallas Stars Lock Up RFA Forward
The Dallas Stars surprised many by making it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. While the team eventually came up short, the playoff run was a coming out party for a lot of the Stars' roster, including winger Denis Gurianov.
The Stars have now rewarded the Russian forward, with a two-year contract, that's paying him $2.55 million per season.
The 23-year-old former 1st-round-pick enjoyed himself a 'Cy Young' season collecting 20 goals and 9 assists. But it was during the playoffs where Gurianov stepped it up, recording 17 points in 27 games, scoring some huge goals along the way.
The Stars are looking to run it back for another deep run next playoffs and will need players like Gurianov to develop from their playoff experience and take another step. What's that look like? 30 goals is within reach and especially if he's getting top-six minutes now on a regular basis. Great signing by the Stars, they appear to have a player in Gurianov!
