Done Deal: Minnesota and Nashville Complete a Trade
The Minnesota Wild continue to make changes as the team has struck a deal with the Nashville Predators. The move sees the Wild acquire center Nick Bonino, along with draft picks #37 and #70 to Minnesota for Luke Kunin and pick #101.
Bonino will slide into the Wild's top-2 lines and provides them with some much needed depth at center. The veteran collected 35 points in 67 games last year for the Predators. With the increased ice-time for the Wild, we could see Bonino's numbers jump a little bit next season.
In Kunin, the Predators land a 22-year-old versatile forward who is a restricted free-agent. Kunin was a first round selection for the Wild back in 2016. He played in 63 games last year, collecting 31 points, which was a career year for the young forward. Perhaps the contract negotiations were not going as planned for Wild GM, Bill Guerin and Kunin's camp as it is a touch surprising the team let Kunin go, even though they did receive a 2nd-round pick back in the deal.
In addition, the Predators have announced they have bought out the contracts of Kyle Turris and Steven Santini.
Buckle up, this week is going to be crazy!
No salary retained in this deal.
