Don't Expect a Marc-Andre Fleury Trade Anytime Soon

The Vegas Golden Knights have been busy landing the biggest free-agent on the market, in Cup champion, Alex Pietrangelo. They then traded Nate Schmidt to Vancouver, and everyone then shifted their focus to goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury, thinking he may be the next one out the door. Turns out, he's not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Recently signed Robin Lehner, will undergo 'clean up' shoulder surgery. Lehner doesn't expect to miss training camp, however, shoulders are tricky and the timeline could easily change. This is why Fleury isn't going anywhere, the team needs a capable back up and in Fleury, they certainly have that.

After the season started, the Golden Knights were trying hard to deal Fleury, were offering him to teams along with a 2nd-round pick, and wanted basically nothing return. They couldn't find any takers. Everyone knew they wanted to clear cap space to take a run at Pietrangelo, so nobody was willing to lend a hand. The signing then cost them Nate Schmidt instead.

Funny how things work out sometimes...
