Two sources confirm the #NHLJets are close to striking a deal for C Paul Stastny from the Vegas Golden Knights. Sounds like picks are involved going the other way.
Stastny has one-year left on a deal making him $6.5 million per year.
Stastny collected 13 points in 19 games three seasons ago for the Jets, and would provide the team with some much needed depth at center.
Vegas on the other hand, is trying to free up some cap space any way possible. The team has been linked to free-agent Alex Pietrangelo, and the only way they will be able to make his contract work is if they can find a suitor for Stastny and for goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury.
Stastny finished last season with 38 points in 71 games and could be a productive piece for the Jets given the fact his ice-time should go way up in Winnipeg.
The deal is expected to be finalized on Friday.
