Maple Leafs Add Another Goaltender
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced they have signed goaltender, Aaron Dell to a one-year contract, worth $800,000.
Dell is 31, and played last season with the San Jose Sharks, getting into 33 games and posting a 3.01 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. Decent numbers for someone who is now considered the team's third-goalie behind Jack Campbell, and Frederik Andersen.
With previous injury troubles for Andersen, and if Campbell doesn't perform well in his place, Dell gives the Leafs another capable option. The Alberta Native, was undrafted and has appeared in 107 games so far in his career, including 4 playoff games.
For now Dell will be battling it out for minutes on the Leafs affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, along with youngsters Joseph Woll and Ian Scott.
Not a major move, but an important one, as the Toronto Maple Leafs just bought themselves some insurance.
