Maple Leafs Sign Jason Spezza to an Extension
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced they have signed center, Jason Spezza to a one-year contract extension. The deal will pay the veteran, $700,000 to play another year with his hometown team.
Spezza's first year in Toronto didn't start off as planned, as ex-Maple Leafs coach, Mike Babcock wasn't a fan of Spezza's game and sat him opening night to send a message to management. A few months later, Babcock was gone, Spezza's ice time went up and so did his production.
Spezza finished with 25 points in 58 games and the majority of them came once Sheldon Keefe took over behind the Leafs bench. Spezza and his family will be as happy as ever to get this deal done!
Good for Jason. He signs for one year, $700k. Gets to stay home and play another year. If we have indeed have a season. https://t.co/4g3pJ9N0yR
