Montreal Canadiens Make a Free-Agent Splash

The Montreal Canadiens have announced they have signed free-agent right-winger, Tyler Toffoli to a four-year contract, worth $17 million.

The deal does not include any trade protection and will be paid out only in salary, as per Chris Johnston of Sportsnet. Toffoli brings some much needed scoring punch to the right-side of the Habs lineup and along with newly acquired Josh Anderson, the Habs all of a sudden look a lot different in their top-six.

Toffoli spent last season with the Vancouver Canucks and LA Kings, where he tallied a combined 44 points in 68 games. The Canadiens will be expecting much of the same from the 28-year-old as the team is looking to build off of its playoff performance from last season.

With basically no cap space left, don't expect much else out of the Canadiens, as GM, Marc Bergevin has been busy up to this point.

One things for sure, the Habs are going for it next year and with another 14 draft picks coming, keep an eye on Montreal come trade deadline 2021.
