Ottawa Senators Make Another Free-Agent Splash
The Ottawa Senators continue to be one of the busiest teams this off season, as the team has announced another move. The Sens have agreed to a one-year contract with 26-year-old Alex Galchenyuk, that pays the forward $1.05 million for the 2020-21 season.
Galchenyuk has gone from #3 overall pick to a bit of a suitcase in his career, so he's hoping he can find a long-term home in Canada's capital. He spent last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild, where he managed 24 points in 59 games.
In Ottawa he should see some more ice-time as the team is still thin in their bottom-six. With the addition of Evgenii Dadonov and Galchenyuk, the Senators could use Artem Anisimov in the middle and form an interesting 2nd or 3rd line.
Dadonov, Galchenyuk, along with Austin Watson are the newcomers so far up front for Ottawa, meanwhile they have added goalie Matt Murray, and defensemen Erik Gudbranson and Josh Brown.
Has Ottawa won the off season?
with all due respect in what universe is spending ~$16.5M on Murray, Dadonov, Gudbranson, Galchenyuk, and Watson even a good offseason let alone the best in the league https://t.co/7NHkgfubuP
