Report: Henrik Lundqvist to Sign in Washington
The recently bought-out veteran netminder cannot formally sign anywhere until Friday, but the early word is he's headed to Washington to provide some veteran presence to Capitals starter, Ilya Samsonov.
That would make sense both ways. WSH would get capable vet on affordable deal to platoon/push burgeoning No. 1 Ilya Samsonov, who’s only 23. Lundqvist would get good chance to play decent number of games on a team with a chance to contend. And in the Metro Division, no less. 😉

Why not just keep Braden Holtby, you may be asking. Money, that's why. Considering his buy-out, Lundqvist will go to his new team on the cheap and the Capitals have a touch of wiggle room on their salary cap.
This provides a great situation for Lundqvist, as he stays in the eastern conference, and will join a team that has a legit shot at winning the Cup next season.
