Rumor: Boston Bruins shopping Tuukka Rask
The Boston Bruins were blindsided earlier this summer when all-star goaltender Tuukka Rask suddenly decided to leave the team in the middle of there second round playoff series against eventual Stanley Cup champs Tampa Bay. It now appears Boston GM Don Sweeney is still upset and is looking to deal the Vezina runner-up.
TSN"s Frank Seravalli has reported that the Bruins have contacted other teams to gauge Rask's trade value on the market. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also reported today that the Bruins along with Vancouver are the top choices for Arizona's Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Could Rask be the centrepiece of a blockbuster that brings OEL to Beantown? Rask is entering the final year of his contract, paying him $7 million this season. Rask led the NHL in GAA with a 2.12avg and was second in save percentage. Ekman-Larsson is signed long-term with a full no-trade clause, he is a $8.25 million cap hit.
It was a huge blow for the Bruins to lose Tuukka Rask during the postseason and with the free agent market about to be flooded with quality goalies, is it time for a change in the pipes in Boston?
