Rumor: Bruins Close to Signing Ex-Rival Defenseman
The Boston Bruins are waiting on a few things to materialize on their roster and one of them is the return of Zdeno Chara. The veteran Bruin is still contemplating his next move and in the mean time, the Bruins are looking for ways to gather some insurance, should they need it.
Enter, Karl Alzner. Yes, that's right, that Karl Alzner.
According to Joe Haggerty, the Boston Bruins have interest in bringing in Alzner on a one-year deal for the league minimum, to give them some veteran presence at the very end of the defensive depth chart.
Alzner most recently was bought out by the Montreal Canadiens after signing a mega-deal that obviously didn't work out. The 32-year-old Burnaby B.C native, appeared in four games for the Habs last season, and another 53 in the AHL, His 64 career playoff games and 686 regular season games are what the Bruins are after, as the team is need desperate need of some experience on their depth chart.
Is this the right move for Boston?
