Rumor: Montreal and Columbus Talking Trade
The Montreal Canadiens showed up to the 'Bubble Playoffs' and surprised the entire league. Now their general manager, Marc Bergevin is doing whatever he can to upgrade his team, so he can show their fanbase last year was no fluke and the team is for real. Insert, the Columbus Blue Jackets.
According to Pierre LeBrun in The Athletic, the Canadiens and Blue Jackets could become perfect trade partners and the deal would include Max Domi heading to Columbus for Josh Anderson.
Anderson would give Montreal a top-six forward with size and more specifically, a right-winger they desperately need. Even though Anderson has battled injuries, he's capable of putting the puck in the back of the net and plays a heavy game, which Montreal could use more of.
In Domi, Columbus would get a versatile player who can move all around their lineup and give head coach, John Tortorella some options with his lineup card.
Both players are restricted free-agents, so perhaps what's taking so long is the fact both sides want to negotiate long-term contracts so the players can't sign one-year deals and become unrestricted free-agents next off season.
This week is going to be wild in the NHL, and the Canadiens and Blue Jackets will be right in the thick of it all.
LeBrun in his Rumblings blog also mentions the Canadiens having interest in Josh Anderson, since Columbus needs a 2C, asks would Max Domi interest them?
