Rumored Trade Package Carolina is Offering Teams
The Carolina Hurricanes currently sit with roughly $5 million in cap space and if the team had their wish, they would be clearing off another $4 million.
According to Elliotte Friedman's 31 Thoughts segment, the Hurricanes are exploring the market on defenseman, Jake Gardiner, who is under contract at $4.05 million for the next three seasons. Gardiner signed in Carolina before last season, and it was a struggle. He finished the year 24 points and was a non-factor in six playoff games.
Teams who are rumored to have interest in Gardiner include the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild, Calgary Flames and Ottawa Senators.
Carolina's end game is to upgrade their goaltending as both James Reimer and Petr Mrazek are both free-agents after next season. Perhaps Gardiner and one of their goalies can fetch them the return their looking for.
