Rumored Trade Package From Chicago To Vegas For Marc-Andre Fleury
The Vegas Golden Knights basically sent the entire league a memo this week, stating the team was open to trading Marc-Andre Fleury and would happily include a second-round pick in the deal. There was speculation the team was also willing to retain $2 million dollars from his $7 million dollar contract he's owed for this upcoming season and next. While the Golden Knights chatted with many teams, one team continues to make calls.
The Chicago Blackhawks have serious interest in Fleury as the team has been trying to upgrade their goaltending position all off season. The Hawks recently broke off talks with the Pittsburgh Penguins as the team could not agree to a contract extension with Matt Murray.
With limited cap space for next year, the Hawks were willing to include Malcom Subban in the deal,, and a late-round draft pick next season. Vegas is apparently pushing for at least one prospect in any deal, while it sounds like the Hawks want Vegas to eat more than $3 million of Fleury's salary.
Chicago knows Marc-Andre Fleury very well and given their core isn't getting any younger, adding a proven veteran goaltender who has a championship resume, could go a long way for the Hawks to bounce back next season.

The expectation is that the Blackhawks will sign Malcolm Subban over the next few days after not qualifying him. Chicago will go with their young guys in goal next season.
