Rumored Trade Package From Edmonton to Tampa Bay for Tyler Johnson
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Tampa Bay Lightning were doing their best to land a first-round pick in exchange for forward, Tyler Johnson leading up to Tuesday's draft.

The Lightning are trying to get a 1st-round pick as part of a deal for Johnson or Killorn. So far, I'm hearing teams have balked. Do those talks escalate closer to the start of Round 1 tonight? Will the price drop? We'll see.
We reported earlier this week that Tampa Bay had approached Tyler Johnson about a trade and it turns out the player is open to the move. The Lightning are in financial burden and could use the remaining $20 million left over four years on Johnson's deal to help sign their restricted free-agents.
Insert the Edmonton Oilers.
Suspect Oilers would be in on Tyler Johnson with Yamamoto connection from Spokane, as 3C or top 6 winger possibility. Tampa's pool of young D not that strong. Bouchard and Broberg untouchable but other prospect Ds might not be...

From all accounts, the Oilers have no interest dealing prospects Evan Bouchard or Philip Broberg, or their first-round pick as they went on to select Dylan Holloway.
The rumored packaged the Oilers were willing to give up for Johnson included a 2nd-round pick in 2021, and forward Jujhar Khaira.
So far the Lightning has no interest in the Oilers offer and will continue to field calls from other teams as they try to maximize the return on Johnson, who finished last season with 31 points in 65 games.
