Rumored Trade Package From Vegas To Tampa Bay For Steven Stamkos
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Vegas Golden Knights tried hard to acquire Steven Stamkos from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and perhaps there's still a deal to be made.
Friedman mentions Max Pacioretty would have likely been included in the package to Tampa, which doesn't make a ton of sense considering Pacioretty makes only $1.5 million less than Stamkos, so it would have been expected Vegas would retain some salary in the deal.
The Golden Knights have two 2nd-round picks next year so perhaps a first-round pick would have been included as well, along with a prospect or two.
As of right now, the Golden Knights are not cap compliant and need to make another deal in order to get under the cap. Shedding salary and acquiring Steven Stamkos would be another home run for the Golden Knights.
Let's see how much Vegas is willing to pay, we all know they are willing to gamble.
