Alex Ovechkin to End Career in Russia
Alex Ovechkin has always been loyal to his roots and it looks like that's never going to change, as the sniper has mentioned he prefers to end his hockey playing career in Russia after his NHL days are behind him.
One of the greatest goal scorers of all-time has only one more year left on his deal, paying him $9.53 million for next season. While it's not expected OV will bolt back home just yet, don't expect to see the 35-year-old sign anything longer than a five-year deal to stay in Washington. It's likely a three-year deal and then he'll spend one year in Russia.
In a Russian language interview, Alex Ovechkin said he could play up to five more years with the Capitals. He also wants to end his career on a "high note" and play his final game with Dynamo Moscow. https://t.co/WYGUOloInu

Ovechkin recently met with the media and had this to say on his career goals:
My career is not over yet. I'm still in my prime. I think I will definitely play for a few more years, God grant that my health is good. I would finish in Russia at Dynamo Moscow. It's not a question of money. It's a matter of principle. I played for only two teams - Dynamo and Washington. It is clear, in two, three, four years, maybe five, I will end my career in Washington. I want to end on a beautiful note - to play my last match for Dynamo Moscow.
Enjoy these last few years Caps' fans, it was one hell of a ride!
