Details Revealed on a Potential Matt Dumba Trade
The Minnesota Wild are a team in transition, trying to find a new identity, and a new found outlook on success. Wild GM, Bill Guerin has been busy making roster changes this offseason that has included sending out goalie Devan Dubnyk and veteran Eric Staal, and not re-signing captain, Mikko Koivu. While Guerin remains interested in trying to acquire a #1 center, according to Wild insider Michael Russo, the team won't be moving Matt Dumba anytime soon to make it happen.
The trade rumors were swirling for weeks that Dumba was headed out of town for a new centreman and with the latest news, it appears he's staying put to solidify the back-end with Jonas Brodin and Jared Spurgeon.
While the news is certainly positive for Dumba if his intentions are to stay in Minnesota long-term, keeping him is certainly a touch of a head-scratcher. Right now, the Wild will be going with Nick Bonino as their #1 center, which can't be music the ears of their fanbase.
At this point, it appears some long days are ahead in Minnesota. Matt Dumba, included.
