Details Revealed on Potential Patrik Laine Trade
The Winnipeg Jets drafted Patrik Laine #2 overall at the 2016 NHL Draft and little did they know, they would be discussing trading the Finnish sniper just four years later. While the talks kicked into a new gear this off season, at this point it appears nothing is on the front burner.
According to sources close to the Jets' operations, the team has yet to receive an offer that is substantial and at this point, sees Laine starting the year in Winnipeg next season.
There has been talk that the Columbus Blue Jackets have sent the Jets multiple offers including the likes of David Savard, Boone Jenner, and Oliver Bjorkstrand, however, it wasn't enough to tickle Winnipeg's fancy. It also would be a horrible spot for Laine to land, as if you think he doesn't get along with his coach now, imagine he gets out of the way of a shot block in Columbus....
The Philadelphia Flyers have also kicked tires on Laine, but at this point, no significant offers have been made.
For now, expect Laine to suit up opening night for the Jets and if he gets his wish, he'll be on the right-wing of #1 center, Mark Scheifele. If Laine starts on the second-line with Paul Stastny, these trade rumors won't be going away anytime soon.
