Edmonton Oilers Sign RFA Defenseman
The Edmonton Oilers have added some depth to their back-end as the team has announced they have signed restricted free-agent defenseman, William Lagesson to a two-year contract.
The deal pays the native of Gothenburg, Sweden $725,000 for both seasons. The 24-year-old Lagesson spent last season in Europe where he collected nine points in 11 games for HC Vita Hasten.
In 2019-20 Lagesson managed to get into eight games with the Oilers. He was dash four with no points, so it looks like the Oilers think Lagesson has made some strides in his game to contribute with either the big club or in the AHL. To note, the second year of the contract is a one-way deal.
The #Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman William Lagesson on a two-year contract through the 2021-22 season! The deal is a two-way contract in year one followed by a one-way contract in year two with an AAV of $725,000. https://t.co/3iEyG7wHGE

The Oilers now sit with all their 23 NHL contract spots filled and 44/50 organization contracts filled. Don't expect much else from GM, Ken Holland at this point.
