Samuelsson has been around the block both as a player and a coach. His most recent employment was in Sweden, where he served as the head coach of Leksands IF in the Swedish Hockey League, and he was on the scouting staff for the Seattle Kraken.
Over his 15-year coaching career, he's also made stops in Phoenix, New York, Chicago, and Charlotte. As a player Samuelsson had an entertaining 16-year career, which included two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early 90's.
He was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 1982 NHL draft and the Panthers are excited to have this experienced hockey mind a part of their mix. He's loved as a coach, but make no jokes about it, Samuelsson was HATED as a player....
