Florida Panthers Sign MacKenzie Weegar to a Three-Year Extension

MacKenzie Weegar was one of the hottest names on the trade market this off season as the Florida Panthers were fielding calls from all over the league. Everyone and their mother was interested in the physical defenseman who is versatile and willing to play both the right and the left side. Turns out he'll be sticking around the Sunshine State for a little while.

Weegar finished last season with seven goals and 18 points in 45 games and was a plus 6. The former 7th round pick is now getting paid substantially more than  his $1.6 million dollar deal he agreed to in 2019 and rightfully so. He's one of the most underrated defenseman in the league.

Weegar was rumored to be heading to several teams such as Boston, Toronto and Montreal and now he's staying a Panther for at least three more seasons.
