Henrik Lundqvist Comments on His Future With The Rangers
Henrik Lundqvist hasn't played one game yet for the Washington Capitals and he's already in the news about his return to the New York Rangers.
Reports have recently surfaced stating there was a hand-shake agreement between the Rangers management team and Lundqvist, leaving open the idea of 'The King' heading back to the Big Apple when his playing days are over. Lundqvist would take on some form of an advisor role out of the gate.
Lundqvist recently spoke to the Swedish reporter Johan Rylander and had this to say about his post-retirement plans:
I’ll be a part of the Rangers for the rest of my life, in one way or another. Both I and the Rangers have been clear about that. That’s how it will be.
It will be the role they want it to be. I don’t know if the role will be small or if there will be something more. It is further ahead. It’s all about timing. It’s just not now.
I feel that I will somehow be connected to the Rangers forever after so many years and all the people I got to know in the club, from the owner on down.
Great to see that even though Lundqvist is being paid to go away to another team, the relationship between him and the Rangers is as strong as ever.
