New York Rangers Lock Up RFA Forward
The New York Rangers have announced they have signed left-winger Brendan Lemieux to a two-year contract worth $1.55 million per season. The deal between the two parties avoids an arbitration case that was set for the coming days and gives the rugged Lemieux some stability in the Big Apple.
Lemieux plays a heavy game and doesn't back down from anyone, which is something the Rangers will surely need with all their speed and skill. The security blanket can play a little bit too, chipping in with 18 points in 59 games last season, and was capable of some big numbers in junior for the Barrie Colts of the OHL.
The son of the infamous Claude Lemieux, Brendan is a solid bottom-six contributor on what could be a real strong team next year for the Rangers:

In 131 career games between the Winnipeg Jets and Rangers, the former second-round pick 36 points and 240 penalty minutes. This move gives the Rangers a clear slate heading into next season as all their restricted free-agents are signed, sealed and delivered.
