The injury occurred on an awkward play during the World Junior Hockey Championships where Dach is the captain of the Canadian team. He was expected to be the leader of the team both on and off the ice and this was certainly a blow for the team.
It also hurts for the Blackhawks who didn't want Dach to play, but after Dach convinced them to let him go, something like this happens...
In his rookie season in 2019-20, Dach scored eight goals and tallied 23 points in 64 games and was getting stronger each game he played. The 19-year-old was the third overall selection at the 2019 draft and could potentially be the next in line to become captain of the Blackhawks once Jonathan Toews is either traded or retires.
