Buffalo Sabres Add Some Forward Depth
The Buffalo Sabres have announced they have signed free-agent Riley Sheahan to a professional tryout and he'll be invited to training camp this week.
The Sabres have added forward Riley Sheahan to the team's training camp roster on a professional tryout contract. A nine-year veteran, Sheahan has recorded 164 points (66+98) in 513 career NHL games.

The 29-year-old Sheahan heads to Buffalo to battle for a depth forward position within the Sabres' bottom-six. It's likely he could end up being their 4th line center next season.
Last season, Sheahan finished the year with 15 points in 66 games with the Edmonton Oilers and still is one of the best penalty killers around. Sheahan joins his 5th team in Buffalo and is essentially 'going home' as he's originally from St Catherines, Ontario, which is a hop, skip and a jump from Buffalo.
Sheahan's best season came back in 2018 when he posted 32 points in 73 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
If Sheahan wants to make the Sabres, he'll have to make amends with one of his new teammates, Jake McCabe, who he fought back in 2018.
