Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Free-Agent Defenseman
The Columbus Blue Jackets have tried several different avenues this offseason to find the spark they need and it's been announced the Blue Jackets have signed veteran defenseman, Michael Del Zotto to a professional try out.
Del Zotto knows Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella from his early career days back with the New York Rangers, where he was drafted in 2008, 20th overall.
Last season the Stouffville, ON native collected 15 points in 49 games for the Anaheim Ducks and was apparently listening to similar offers from a number of teams including the Calgary Flames, New Jersey Devils and Chicago Blackhawks.
The 30-year-old has played in 657 career NHL games and has 236 points.
