Corey Perry Linked to the Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to have their NHL roster for next season but if the team is looking to bring in another veteran for their Taxi Squad, Dave Poulin of TSN suggests Corey Perry could be a fit for the Maple Leafs.

Perry spent last season making a cup run with the Dallas Stars and showed up when it mattered. Perry was a solid contributor in the playoffs and used his experience when it mattered most. The long-time Anaheim Duck isn't the smoothest skater and relies heavily on body positioning and being close to the goalie, Perry loves to score goals from in close. If the Maple Leafs run into injury problems or have issues with right-wing depth, Perry is a viable option.

Consider this, Perry almost signed in Toronto back in 2013 and the Leafs took a run at Perry last offseason before he made his way to Dallas. The connection has always seemed to be there even though Perry's busy playing hockey in the southwest of America.

Last season the 35-year-old finished the regular season with 21 points in 57 games and showed up each one of his 27 playoff games and managed to chip in 9 points in the bubble.

Expect to see Perry sign a next one-year deal shortly before training camp begins. Whether it's in Toronto is still up in the air at this point. If Perry doesn't end up with the Maple Leafs, keep an eye on the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers, and Nashville Predators.

Perry wants another run at Lord Stanley. My bets while enjoying some sun.
