Expect A Different Style From Mitch Marner Next Season

Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs is an unbelievable hockey player who relies on speed, skill, vision and an out of this world hockey IQ. Marner is never the biggest player on the ice, but he's willing to battle and he's smart enough to know how to create leverage for himself. The 23-year-old has always been a pass first player, but he knows the Maple Leafs may need him to light the lamp a little bit more on a regular basis.

Last season Marner finished with 67 points in 59 games, and this upcoming season, the Leafs are expecting bigger things from their superstar.

Marner recently spoke with the media and had this to say on what to expect from his game next season:

Being around the net more to put the puck in. Goals is something where I need to ask more of myself. I've been trying to really be OK and comfortable with myself shooting regardless of how the shot comes off. That's something I'm trying to get my head wrapped around and something I'm becoming more confident with.

Marner's career high in goals came back in 2018-19 where he sniped 26. In a shortened season he may not reach that number, but one thing's for sure, Leafs Nation will be yelling 'SHOOOOOOT' less when Marner has the puck next season.
