German World Junior Team Lands in Edmonton Full of Covid
The news the IIHF did not want to hear as the German World Junior team landed in Edmonton and had eight players test positive for Covid. The team is slated to play the Canadian team on Boxing day and this is now in jeopardy.

The team was tested multiple times before flying to Canada and had to test negative to make the trip so it's very concerning what's gone on here. Did they attract the virus in the Airport? Were the negative test results actually positives?
The Germans aren't the only team to deal with Covid as several countries have lost coaches or players to the virus and now the tournament won't be displaying every countries' best players.
The staff and players with Germany's world junior team all passed COVID tests before travelling last weekend. However, there were a handful of positives upon arrival in Edmonton and the number grew to the eight infected players announced by @IIHFHockey.

The IIHF will continue to monitor the health and safety of everyone involved very closely and yes, there's a small chance the tournament could eventually be cancelled.
