Horrible News for Team Canada Captain
The Canadian World Juniors took on the Russia team in preliminary action on Wednesday night which was supposed to be a tune up with no major implications on the actual tournament. Turns out that's the farthest thing from the truth.
Team Canada captain and Chicago Blackhawk, Kirby Dach collided awkwardly in the neutral zone with a Russian forward and Dach has suffered a tournament ending injury and one that will keep him out of NHL action as well. It appears to be either a broken wrist or broken finger, but no official word yet from the doctors.
No official word yet from @HockeyCanada but Kirby Dach is out of the WJC because of the injury suffered yesterday. So Team 🇨🇦 loses its captain. CHI doctors still assessing Dach’s injury but he will be missing NHL time as well.

Dach was supposed to be a focal point for the Canadian team and for the Blackhawks, someone who was going to be given a huge opportunity in the team's top-six forwards. Horrible news on all accounts for Dach and we certainly feel for the kid.
Video of Kirby Dach’s injury in Team Canada’s exhibition game vs. Russia. He went straight to locker room. Not great. #Blackhawks
