Insider Provides Update on Zdeno Chara's Future

Zdeno Chara is still without a contract as the 2020-21 NHL season is set to begin. Chara is looking to continue his playing career and him and his agent are mulling over their options as the NHL's restart has been announced.

While there are other options for the towering defenseman, the Boston Bruins remain the favorite to sign Chara for next season. His agent recently spoke to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic and had this to say:

The Bruins have been very communicative with us about how they see things moving forward,” Chara’s agent Matt Keator said Sunday. Now that we know the format of the season we will be assessing Z’s options going forward.

Z's options are a plenty as the Stanley Cup winning defenseman has been linked to the Bruins, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Seeing Chara in anything but a Bruins jersey at this point would be a site for sore eyes, but as you can tell with the patience of himself and his agent, he's only going to commit to next season if the opportunity is right.

Chara is among a group of free agents who are expected to sign before Christmas. It's going to be a busy week gearing up for next season. Buckle up.
